Discover Healing Paths
Your Gateway to Psilocybin Healing
Psilocybin Facilitators Association is a program of the Psilocybin Assisted Therapy Association, and focuses on primarily supporting licensed psilocybin facilitators in the USA. Since its inception in Oregon in 2023, PFA has worked on developing best practices for facilitators, fostered a safe space to learn from each other and provide support for professional development and continued education.
Strengthening the licensed psilocybin facilitator community allows for a unified voice to communicate the value of the legal framework’s service provision, helps potential clients identify their perfect provider, and guides the ongoing development of policy development and implementation.

Who We Serve
We serve a diverse and growing community of psilocybin facilitators, from those just beginning their path to experienced guides working in clinical, ceremonial, and community settings. We also support those seeking guidance—individuals looking for safe, ethical, and informed support in their healing journey. What to Look For in a Psilocybin Facilitator
When considering a deep exploration of one’s own unconscious and foundational material, willing to dive into past traumas and vulnerabilities, the choice of whom to trust with supporting our process is very important. Relying on the provider’s high level of educational achievement is often not adequate in this delicate selection.

Personality Fit
The client and the facilitator must have a personality fit that fosters genuine trust and willingness to surrender in the client.

Non-Judgmental Presence
The right facilitator will meet you without judgement, with loving presence and deep desire to help you thrive.

Your Path, Not Theirs
They will help you walk your own path towards healing rather than impose their own ideology or insist on their own rituals.

Support Without Control
A successful facilitator is skilled at allowing you to explore without imposing their own interpretations, while being there when you need grounding.

Never Sexual
The relationship between a facilitator and client is never sexual, and is more akin to the loving presence of a mentor or a parent guiding their charge without extinguishing or overpowering their intrinsic seeking and growing process.

Strong Boundaries
A competent facilitator has appropriate boundaries and is supportive without losing themselves, and guides without losing sight of what matters to you and how far you are willing to go in your internal exploration.

Holds Space for the Deep Work
Facilitators must be capable of holding energetic space for their clients, be patient and capable of tolerating sometimes emotionally painful material that can surface in session.

Mental Health Awareness
Some experience with healthcare or mental health care can be useful, but is not always necessary. However, if you looking to address severe psychological wounding, having a facilitator who is familiar with how this type of pain can surface and how to help the client navigate the struggle, can be very helpful.

Safety First
A qualified facilitator will assess if you are healthy enough to safely go through a psilocybin experience. They will ask about your physical and mental health history and assess your overall presenting concerns. This preparation work will help them determine the right dosage for your journey.
Be careful with a potential facilitator if they …

-
Tell you that they are specially ordained and/or have special (magical) powers
-
Tell you or behave as if their ritual is the only way to heal, and are inflexible with seemingly arbitrary things (for example, music choice, strict dietary restrictions, religious practices)
-
Make you feel uncomfortable, insignificant, or diminish your concerns
-
Do not listen to you, your concerns, or your narrative
-
Discount something that is profoundly important to you
-
Fail to complete assessments that will let them know about your physical and emotional health
